The Debate Society seeks to provide a forum for developing public speaking, logic, argumentation and rhetorical skills at the London School of Economics. The Debate Society represents LSE at inter-varsity competitions throughout Britain, Europe and the World. We hold weekly practice sessions that are open to all students. Additionally, we organize internal tournaments for LSE students and host external tournaments that attract competitors from around the world.
The LSE SU Debate Society revolves around British Parliamentary, also known as Worlds', style debating, in which two pairs argue in favour of a motion and two pairs argue against. A fuller explanation can be found in the “About Debate” section, but the best way to learn to debate is to come to a meeting, watch and join in.
